For those adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities wishing to enter the world of paid employment, Customized Employment offers the opportunity to find gainful employment reflective of the individual’s interest and abilities.

Customized Employment uses a method called “Discovery” to determine the client’s “Genius.” Every person is great at something and all individuals tend to be the best at what they love to do. In addition to earning minimum wage or above, program participants also earn recognition for their unique contributions.

We network with a wide range of Lake County employers, helping them discover how an adult with an intellectual or developmental disability might be an important addition to their workforce. Once the employer’s needs are determined, a position is carved that matches a client’s genius with the employer’s unmet need in a manner that suits everyone. The participant then receives ongoing training, and on-the-job assistance by a skilled Job Coach.
