Konocti Instructional Services is a licensed Day Program (License # 176800042) through Community Care Licensing, Department of Social Services.

For most individuals, the opportunity to interact with others, to express their thoughts and ideas, and to engage in meaningful activities is an important facet of daily life. At Konocti Instructional Services - Clearlake (KIS-Clearlake), clients are encouraged to form friendships, articulate their wants and needs, and develop important skills and talents, all designed to enhance independence, self-confidence, and creativity.

KIS-Clearlake offers person-centered activities that are specifically tailored to meet the needs and desires of each individual. Classes such as music, art, sewing, jewelry, crafting, and cooking promise creativity, communication, self-expression, and friendship. Staff endeavor to ensure that clients are treated with dignity and respect and that consumers engage in activities that are both purposeful and fulfilling.

For those clients who wish to enter the job market, Entrepreneurial Skill Building offers the chance to work in both on-site activities such as the café, coffee shop, and art gallery, as well as off-side activities such as landscaping and the Annex. Staff work closely with consumers to develop and refine skills such as time and money management, community interaction and etiquette, decision making, and positive communication. Some of these programs offer participants the opportunity to earn income for their efforts.

KIS-Clearlake is dedicated to partnering with individuals who have intellectual and developmental disabilities by promoting choice and opportunity. We strive to enable each one of our clients to pursue his or her own goals and dreams.

You can design how you want your day to look. Spending time in the community could include choices like:

  • Personal Shopping

  • Going to the library

  • Eating lunch out with friends

  • Grocery shopping for the hot lunch you want to make that day

  • Working on a grounds maintenance crew

  • Working at the People Services Thrift Store distribution center, helping us prepare donations for sale

  • Ordering food from a menu in a restaurant

If you are interested in exploring your artistic side, we have a number of very exciting classes to offer. KIS - Clearlake has a wonderful art gallery where you can display and sell your artwork.

You can discover your creative side in any one of the following art classes:

  • Painting with acrylic or watercolor

  • Creative sewing classes

  • Sculpting

  • Wood Skills

  • Music

You may want to build your employee skills as you consider joining the world of work. If you want to enhance your work skills, you can find opportunities offered in both paid and volunteer work. You can join the work adjustment program five days per week. When paid job openings are available you can work up to three days per week. The other two days you can enhance your skills by attending our worker training classes and/or volunteering for one of our volunteer sites where we help others and you can learn other valuable skills. Paid work training opportunities include:

  • Gaining new skills that could help you find a job

  • Learning work skills for grounds maintenance

  • Learning work skills related to retail business

Enhanced Services:

If you are receiving services from one of our day programs and you require focused behavioral assistance, additional support providing 1:1 staffing is available throughout your program day.

This is determined through your individualized needs and IPP.
