Konocti Instructional Services - Lakeport

Konocti Instructional Services is a licensed Day Program (License # 176800042) through Community Care Licensing, Department of Social Services.

Respect. Opportunity. Compassion.

These fundamental principles help to form the philosophy around which Konocti Instructional Services-Lakeport (KIS-L) is built. It is in this modest, two-story building located on 11th Street in Lakeport that one can witness these abstract concepts being played out daily.

Each weekday, KIS-L serves as the home base for over 25 People Services consumers, each of whom arrives with his/her own set of goals and expectations. They are welcomed by a staff of qualified skills instructors and personal attendants who have but one primary objective - to ensure a meaningful and productive experience for every individual.

KIS-L offers a wide assortment of recreational, occupational, and educational opportunities, each designed to promote positive socialization, communication, and basic self-care skills. Accompanied by staff, consumers engage in activities such as delivering Meals On Wheels (serving lunch at local senior centers) and working at our People Services Thrift Store. In addition to acquiring and refining the skills necessary for employment, in many instances, consumers have the opportunity to receive monetary compensation for their efforts.

Social skill building happens throughout the day, and consumers are encouraged to make choices that are consistent with their personal lives and vocational goals. Physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being are emphasized on an ongoing basis, with each consumer’s needs, abilities, and aspirations providing the template for his or her individualized program.

For over 30 years, Konocti Instructional Services-Lakeport has provided essential services for a diverse population. Meeting their needs and promoting dignity, choice, and self-respect remain our top priority.
